What's included in Venice chartered fishing trips with Southern Access Charters:

  • 24' Fishing boat equipped with a toilet, GPS, sonar, radar, fishfinder, live bait well, wireless trolling motor, and fuel.
  • Dead bait and lures are provided (live bait can be arranged at an additional cost).
  • The company of the most entertaining fishing captain in the world.
  • Use of high quality rods, reels, tackle from brands such as Inshore and Offshore Daiwa BG 4000’s to Penn 6000’s, Ugly Stick and Shimano rods.
  • Ice chests and ice for preserving your catch. Fish cleaning and filleting services.

What you need to bring:

  • $20 Fishing license from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries
    Residents, Military, Students and Nonresidents
    You are not required to have Basic or Saltwater Fishing licenses if you are:
    • A resident or nonresident under age 18 (i.e. age 17 and under)
    • A resident born before June 1, 1940, who has lived in Louisiana for 6 months. If you meet one of the above criteria, you must still have proof of age in your possession whenever fishing. Purchase a License

What type of fishing techniques are used in Southern Louisiana?

Angling techniques include light tackle fishing, jigging, and trolling, while bottom fishing and drift fishing are also favored methods.

The summer season is widely regarded as the prime time for fishing trips in Venice, LA and it is recommended to make reservations at least 1 month ahead to secure a spot for your angling expedition.

We have condos near the Venice Marina that can accommodate any group size.

Fishing charter trips with Southern Access Charters average between 6 - 8 hours (dock to dock).

Trips depart between 5 am - 6 am and return in the afternoon between 1 pm - 2 pm, depending on the time of the year.

Captain Chad will travel down the Mississippi Delta 8 - 10 miles and fish the passes and rock jetties that flow into the Gulf of Mexico. Also 1 - 3 miles into the Gulf of Mexico, depending on the time of year

We ziplock bag your fillets. The Venice Marina can vacuum seal and ship your catch.

Depending on the time of year, you can expect to catch redfish, drumfish, sheepshead, speckled trout, red snapper, mangrove snapper, lane snapper, Cobia, triple tail, sharks, flounder, and possibly more.

Yes, we cater to all ages, including children and families for fishing trips!

You will be fishing on a top-of-the-line 24ft Key West Bay Reef with T-Top, GPS, radar, trolling motor, and power pole.

If the weather is going to be an all-day washout, we will contact you to consider a reschedule or cancellation of fishing trips. Captain Chad will monitor the weather and inform you ahead of time.
