About Captain Chad Rudolph & Southern Access Charters from Venice, LA

Welcome aboard Southern Access Charters! I’m Captain Chad Rudolph, and fishing has been in my blood since day one. Growing up in a family of fishermen, I’ve lived and breathed the wonders of the sea throughout my life.

I still remember the day when my grandfather introduced me to fishing at the age of five. We were at the marina, working on his boat, and he handed me a fishing pole with a perch hook. Taking his time, he taught me how to catch my first fish by rolling up a small piece of bread and baiting the hook. I was amazed when a mullet eagerly took the bait and I reeled it in. By the end of the day, I had filled a five-gallon bucket with mullet.

My grandfather took me to the local bait shop, where we sold the mullet as bait and earned my first $20.00. That experience left a lasting impression on me.

On my first boat trip with him, we approached an oil rig, and the mighty bull reds gave me a thrilling fight, nearly stripping the line off my little fishing pole. Unfortunately, I couldn’t land any of those big reds, but that memory stayed with me.

Now, as a charter guide, I ensure that many of my customers get the chance to experience those same bull reds at that very spot. We catch and release over fifty bull reds weighing over 30 pounds each. Every time we’re there, I share the story, keeping the spirit alive.

Over the years, I have gained more than 30 years of experience navigating these waters, with 19 of those years dedicated to being a fishing guide in Venice, LA. I owe a great deal of my knowledge and skills to Captain Jesse Morris of Cajun Unlimited has been my mentor throughout my journey as a fishing guide. His expertise has shaped me into the guide I am today.

When multiple boats are needed, I work closely with other local guides whom I trust implicitly. They share the same values of respect, dedication, and knowledge, ensuring that your fishing trip is a memorable one.

Each fishing trip I embark on feels like my very first day out. I still carry the same passion and drive to get you on fish, allowing you to experience the beauty of the waters, the thrill of the catch, and the rich fishing culture I’ve been fortunate to inherit. Get ready to join me on this incredible journey!

Due to their fuel efficiency and lower maintenance costs, center console charters offer a more affordable alternative compared to conventional sportfish boats. If you are a group of four people or less and are comfortable with the absence of onboard toilet facilities, this choice is highly recommended. Additionally, center consoles provide the advantage of 360° fishability, allowing you to engage in fish fights from any location on the boat.
